Geary continues to make the headlines for all the wrong reasons. There was national attention when the police force left as a whole and now a teacher at the elementary school has been removed from the classroom and arrested, suspected of being intoxicated on the job and charged with public intoxication.
According to records from the Blaine County Jail, Monica Nereida Martinez was arrested Jan. 16 and booked into the jail. There is no indication of what substances she might allegedly have consumed.
Martinez was released on bond. The superintendent, Sean Buchanan, notified parents of the situation but also explained that as the events were considered a personnel matter, no further comment would be forthcoming.
All persons arrested have only been charged and are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
