Here we are with another arctic blast! We hope all of you are keeping warm and healthy. Many have been affected by the flu and Covid. All we can do, at this point, is wash our hands thoroughly, eat right and stay warm. We have been busy at the Watonga Senior Center, doing our part to help you exercise three times weekly, eat right and stay warm.
Our menu for the following week is: Thursday, Feb. 13 Steak Fingers Friday Chicken Salad Sandwiches Monday CLOSED for President’s Day Tuesday Chicken Strips Wednesday Kiwanis Meets (Braised Pork Loin) Thursday, Feb. 20 Liver and Onions Friday Fried Chicken We eat each day from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., except Wednesdays, when we eat from 11a.m. to noon. Our meals are only $7 for meat, potatoes and gravy, a vegetable, salad, homemade roll, dessert and a drink. Call any morning before 10 a.m. for home delivery. On Thursdays, we have biscuits and gravy from 810 a.m. by donation.
Our deliveries were made this week by Susan Shrader, Connie George, Sharon Barnes, Curt and Brenda Stein, Janice Hood and Vernon Brickman. We are very grateful for this group of dependable delivery persons!
We received a donation this week from Tim Espy, and a memorial donation from Eloise Espy.
Quilters this week were Louise Cooper and Margaret Parman, and they are doing an excellent job. The quilt will be completed soon.
On the third Friday of each month, we have nurses from Mercy Hospital come at 10 a.m. to test for blood pressure and glucose. Most of us need to monitor these and we can get this done here free. It isn’t just for seniors, the nurses will check anyone who comes in, all for free.
We have adult games and entertainment at the center from 6- 9 p.m. on the second and fourth Saturday every month. Everyone is welcome to bring a snack and play cards, dominoes or pool.
We are still in need of a refrigerator, freezer and computer. If any of you need to donate to reduce your tax bill, or can help us out, please let us know.
Until next week, remember your Valentine, keep warm and be kind.
