The Oklahoma Home and Community Education (OHCE) West District, North Region annual meeting was held on Saturday, March 22 at the Watonga High School. Hosting the event were Blaine, Major and Kingfisher county HCE groups. 164 attendees represented 12 counties in Northwestern Oklahoma. Also in attendance were various presenters and representatives from Oklahoma State University, including Dr. Damona Doye and Dr. Gina Peek. Twenty workshops were available for attendees to choose from, covering topics like Gardening in Spring, History of Cheese, Food and Culture of Vietnam, Intro to Focaccia Bread, and Moving with Music, to name a few.

OHCE is a statewide, county-based organization that has a unique partnership with Oklahoma State University and OSU Extension. Local members seek to develop leadership skills and strengthen families in their communities. Groups meet monthly for interesting, research-based lessons provided by specialists at OSU, fun activities, community planning and, most importantly, friendship development. For more information on OHCE or to visit with a local group, contact the Blaine County OSU Extension office, located in the basement of the courthouse.
