The Geary School Board met in regular session Monday and dealt with what must have felt like some refreshingly normal agenda items.
It swore in David Lawson as a member. He was unopposed for the position and was seated by acclamation.
The board then rearranged itself, with Jason Bernhardt stepping in as president, Afton Jameson as vice president and Kendra Houston as clerk.
They then approved sending a student - Luke Posey – to the Business Professionals of America conference and competition in Orlando in May. Posey won first place in database development at the BPA state convention to earn a spot at the national conference.
It also removed and added some staff members to bank signature cards and confirmed graduation will be at 7 p.m. May 10 so as not to conflict with the state track competition.
The board then accepted the resignations of JC Estep, a coach, Kenneth Horn, an instructional coach, Hali Miller and Sara Selcer, both teachers, and Marianne Price, a librarian and teacher.
It also accepted the resignations of Tammie Brack in the superintendent’s office, Patty Henry, the high school secretary, Kylie Howell, a paraprofessional and Peggy Lawson, the encumbrance clerk.
However, the board then moved to rehire many of its employees for next year including Kathryn Allen, Danella Buchannan, Christian Finney, Patrick Finney, Robert Gray, Caleb Howell, Brenda Louthan, Tony Louthan, Jeff Maib, Alexander Martinez, Aaron Schantz, Karen Stein, Traci Toho and Kera Wallis, all certified personnel at the middle or high school, as well as Pedro Covarrubias, Tyson Hanes, Chandria Parris, Amanda Pitts and Shay Stevenson as support personnel on that campus. James Rainey will be returning as the principal at the high school.
Over at the elementary school, returning certified personnel include Diane Bouma, Alicia Davis, Vanessa Delno, Kimberly Doane, Abbigale Dodson, Claire Ellison, Danna Farley, Samantha Finney, Jada Gray Bill, Kayla Hubbard, Barbara Maib, Chelsie Pankratz, Kaylee Parks and Sharon Smith.
Elementary support personnel include Kristi Bowman, Autumn Degonia, Amber Forney, Josh McCoy, Melissa McCoy, Brian Minor, Kayla Reiber and Mary K Wright. Ashley Johnston will return as principal.
Other personnel returning include Jayrn Meyer, in administration, Amber Klein and Nikole Upchego in the superintendent’s office, Ted and Tyler Hicks districtwide and as support personnel at the Baby Bison Ranch, Deanna Burns, Rita Finney, Jacee Lewis, Gretchen Melvin and Alexis Sealy.
