SENIOR CENTER NEWS

By Brenda Stein

Welcome to JUNE! Does this mean that summer is almost here? The official start of summer is June 20 and lasts until September 22. The summer is the hottest and brightest of the four seasons. Daylight hours are the longest. So, let’s get out and enjoy this weather while we can.

We are the Watonga Senior Citizens Center, and our activities are geared towards the senior population of this area. We are happy to serve our daily meals to anyone, of any age, though. Come join us daily for lunch from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., each day, except Wednesday, when we eat from 11 a.m. to noon. On Wednesdays, the Kiwanis Club meets and dines in at noon. Call any morning before 10 for home delivery. Our menu for the following week is: Thursday, June 5 Baked Chicken Friday Indian Tacos Monday Taco Salad Tuesday Breaded Chicken Breast Wednesday Barbeque Ribs (Kiwanis Meets) Thursday, June 12 Goulash Friday Chicken Salad Sandwiches Our meals were delivered last week by: Sharon Barnes, Curt and Brenda Stein, Janice Hood and Vernon Brickman. Our thanks to these loyal deliverers.

Loretta Grove donated Best Choice labels. Many thanks to her. If you have any of these labels, please consider bringing them to us. For every 1,000 we sent in, we receive $30.

Our quilters this week, Louise Cooper, Martha White and Estelene Teply, finished the quilt they were working on. If you have a quilt top, and you are interested in having it hand-quilted, come talk to us about it.

On Saturday night, June 14, we will host Fun and Games from 69 p.m. Bring a snack to share and enjoy cards, dominoes, pool and live entertainment.

We have exercise classes on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 9 a.m. Come join us and exercise at your own pace. At all ages we need to keep our bodies moving and active.

Come join us for lunch, Fun and Games or exercise. We will be glad to see you at the Watonga Senior Citizens’ Center.
