Happy second week of June to everyone! Can you believe that this year is almost half over? Where has the time gone? On Sunday, June 15, we will celebrate Father’s Day. It is always celebrated on the third Sunday of June. Mother’s Day has roots going back to the 1860s, but it took several decades for Father’s Day to catch on. In 1910, Sonora Smart Dodd initiated the first Father’s Day in Spokane, Washington, to honor her father, a Civil War veteran and single parent of six. Finally, in 1972, President Richard Nixon made Father’s Day a federal holiday. So, let’s celebrate those dads and grandpas on their special day!
