Almost everyone loves fireworks. Where can you see the best and brightest locally?
Try Hinton or Geary on July 3. The Hinton celebration will begin at 6:30 p.m. at the walking trails. Expect family games, a cornhole tournament, food, face painting and of course, ohhs and ahhs beginning at dusk.
Just up the road in Geary, the fireworks display will begin at the park beginning at 8:45 p.m.
On July 4, Lucky Star Casino at Concho will begin its fireworks display at dark with free admission.
Canton will hold its Freedom Fest at Tiger Stadium with activities for kids and adults including inflatables, food and prize drawings. That firework show will begin at dark.
In Watonga, the Lions Club has once again ponied up to provide a fireworks show. Beginat 6 p.m. at Huff Lorang Park, there will be games, free food and live music. The booms and bangs start at dark.
For those who just can’t get enough of the celebration, there will be more going on July 5.
At Canton there will be family fun and games, hotdogs, cool drinks, homemade ice cream and Lucky Star Casino Canton will provide a fireworks show at Canton Lake at dusk.
At Roman Nose State Park, the Friends of Roman Nose will host an Independence Day celebration across from the General Store with family friendly fun and games and facepainting. The fireworks will go off at dusk.
Please remember city ordinances, most of which limit fireworks usage inside city limits and/or after midnight.
And keep in mind that some people and most animals are not thrilled with the lights and noise, which can trigger PTSD or other traumatic stress responses. Pets, especially dogs, are sensitive to the sounds and should be kept safe and contained until the holiday has come to a happy conclusion.
