SENIOR CENTER NEWS

EWS

Here we are halfway through July, and we had a nice rain over the weekend. This is helping everyone’s gardens grow, and some kind people have shared their garden bounty with us at the Watonga Senior Citizens’ Center. A big thanks to all of them for yellow squash, zucchini, cucumbers and tomatoes. Nothing tastes better than garden-fresh vegetables.

You can come to the center and eat with us daily from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., except Wednesdays, when we eat from 11 a.m. to noon. Our meals are homecooked and you will get a meat dish, potatoes and gravy, vegetables, salad, homemade roll, dessert and a drink for $7. Call any morning before 10 for home delivery. Our upcoming menu is: Thursday, July 17 Liver and Onions Friday Fried Chicken Monday Chili or Vegetable Soup Tuesday Chicken Casserole Wednesday Roast Pork (Kiwanis Meets) Thursday, July 24 Chicken Alfredo Friday Roast Beef (Birthday Dinner) Last week our meals were delivered by: Susan Shrader, Sharon Barnes, Curt and Brenda Stein, Janice Hood and Vernon Brickman. Thanks to all of them.

Our quilters this week were Louise Cooper, Martha White and Estalene Teply. They are doing an excellent job and they make hand-quilting look so easy!

On Friday, July 17, the nurses from Mercy Hospital will be in about 9:45 a.m. to take blood pressure and check glucose levels, at no charge. This is a wonderful service and we all need to take advantage of this.

On Monday, July 23, the Cheyenne Quilt Guild will meet at the Center at 6:30 p.m. Anyone interested in quilting or quilts is invited to attend. They usually display some beautiful works of art.

We exercise on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 9 a.m., and everyone is invited to join us. We are led by some amazing women, and everyone is encouraged to move more in our lives. Come join us at the center and see what is going on in Watonga!
