SENIOR CENTER NEWS

Here we are in August, the eighth month of the year. It has started out as a cooler, damper month than usual. August has no national holidays; but in a standard year, no other month starts on the same day as August. We think of August as hot and dry with school starting and vacation ending. We have had wonderful vegetable donations this past week from Jeannette Perez, and we thank her and others for remembering us.

The quilters last week were Louise Cooper and Martha White. They are doing an amazing job on the quilt in the racks. Come see for yourself.

We also had a group of ladies on Tuesday playing bridge. They seemed to have a serious game going on and stayed for lunch.

On Saturday, August 9, we will have our twice monthly Fun and Ga.m.es Night from 6 - 9 p.m. Bring a snack to share and enjoy card ga.m.es, dominoes, pool and live music.

Also, that day, the Watonga Masonis Lodge will have its monthly breakfast at the Watonga Senior Citizens Center from 7 - 10 a.m. It is a wonderful way to begin your weekend with their hearty breakfast.

August 3 is National Watermelon Day, so I hope you able to enjoy some delicious watermelon around this time. Come see us Monday through Friday at the Watonga Senior Citizens Center. We exercise three times per week, and we eat each day! We have something for everyone!
