CTTC Announces More Truck Driving Classes

In case a recent photo montage in this newspaper revved up your interest in becoming a licensed truck driver, Chisolm Trail Technology Center has announced its next CDL Class A course begins on October 6. There are also classes starting on February 2, 2026 and August 31, 2026.

The Class A course is 234 hours and consists of both the federally required theory curriculum and hands-on training.

The course is 28 days, Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The courses are held just north of Watonga at the CTTC CDL facility and pad. Central Tech provides the trucks and instructors.

Tuition is $4,300, paid to Central Technology Center, and due the first day of class. It includes books, supplies, drug testing, a DOT physical, permit testing and CDL testing. Those items are provided by Central Tech. The drug testing is a pre-employment drug screening the first day of the class. All students are also subject to random and suspicious drug testing throughout the duration of the program. A positive test or a refusal will result in immediate termination from the program. Per federal regulations medical marijuana is categorized as a controlled substance and is classified as a Schedule I drug.

CDL testing is taken on the Central Tech campus at Drumright during the last week of classes.

In order to obtain a Class A permit, prospective drivers must take (and pass) a general knowledge test covering chapters 1-3 of the CDL manual, an air brake test on chapter 5 of the CDL manual, and combination vehicles, also covered in chapter 5 of the manual.
