Welcome to the Watonga Senior Citizens’ Center. We are located at 112 South Noble, and our phone number is 580623-4511. Even though we are a senior citizens’ organization, our doors are open to those of all ages. We have exercise class Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 9 a.m. These classes are designed to exercise all parts of our bodies. We also have twice monthly Fun and Games, which are designed to exercise our minds with card games, domino games, pool and live music. We also have hand-quilting ongoing, with a handmade quilt in a frame.
Our biggest claim to fame is our daily lunch! Not only is it nutritious but it is moderately priced at $7 for a meat dish, potatoes and gravy, a vegetable, salad, homemade roll, homemade dessert and drink. Come join us daily from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. to dine-in or take-out, except Wednesday, when we eat from 11 a.m. to noon to accommodate the local Kiwanis Club meeting. Call us any morning before 10 for home delivery.
Our menu is: Thursday, Aug. 21 Chicken and Noodles Friday Ham and Sweet Potatoes Monday Barbecue Pork Sandwiches Tuesday Sausage and Sauerkraut Wednesday Breaded Pork Loin (Kiwanis meets) Thursday, Aug. 28 Ham and Beans Friday Roast Beef (Birthday Dinner) If you are a paid member of the center, (annual dues are $15), and you have an August birthday, you eat free on Friday, August 29. This birthday dinner happens on the last Friday of each month.
Our home deliveries were made last week by Hailey Boden, Sharon Barnes, Brenda Stein, Janice Hood and Vernon Brickman. They always deliver faithfully with a smile!
Our quilters this week were Louise Cooper, Martha White and Estalene Teply. Come in and watch them stitch beautifully on a handpieced quilt.
This past week Allen and Margie Smith donated to the center, and brought in Best Choice labels as well. Our thanks to them. We collect Best Choice labels and send them back to the company for redemption. So, if you have any, please bring them to us.
The Blaine County Fair begins Thursday and runs through Saturday. Many of our members have items entered. Go see them.
We will host Fun and Games on Saturday, August 23, from 6- 9 p.m. Bring a snack and enjoy. Now that you know a little bit about us, come visit us. We will welcome you with a smile!
