I hope everyone had a wonderful Labor Day, because now our fall season is about to begin. Technically, fall starts September 22, but now the holidays ahead of us are fall ones: Halloween and Thanksgiving. Labor Day denotes the end of summer when pools close, boats are drydocked and it is football season. Time goes by rapidly because I remember just a few weeks ago, we were discussing Easter and spring gardening. Now, we see pumpkins and mums, soon ghosts and black cats! One thing is certain—we will be here at the Watonga Senior Citizens Center Monday through Friday, serving lunch each day, except Wednesday, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Wednesdays we serve lunch from 11.a.m. to noon. Our upcoming menu is: Thursday, Sept.4 Breaded Chicken Breast Friday Indian Tacos Monday Taco Salad Tuesday Breaded Pork Loin Wednesday Chicken Spaghetti Thursday, Sept. 11 Goulash Friday Chicken Salad Sandwiches We received donations this week from Arlyn and Joy Moon; also, from Val and Rich Davis. We are very appreciative of their thoughtfulness and kindness.
Janice Hood also brought in okra and tomatoes— delicious! Louise Cooper was the only quilter this week. She and others are doing a wonderful job on the star quilt. If you came to the center to see the Eagle quilt, I am sorry to report that it was taken down early because of the rains we received. The center is an older building and unfortunately develops some roof leaks. We were afraid that the Eagle quilt might be damaged by the rains, so we took it down.
On Saturday, Sept. 13, the Watonga Masonic Lodge will have its monthly big breakfast from 7 -10 a.m. Start your weekend with their hearty breakfast!
That evening, we will host our twice-monthly Fun and Games from 6- 9 p.m. Bring a snack to share, play cards, dominoes, pool, and listen to live music!
Remember we exercise Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 9 a.m. for about 45 minutes. You don’t have to be a senior citizen to exercise—all ages are welcome. We exercise for about 45 minutes and it does our bodies good at any age. On Fridays, we have a group of ladies who stay after exercise and play cards, and I am sure you would be welcome to join them.
As you can see, something is always going on here at the Watonga Senior Citizens Center, and we hope to see you soon!
