SENIOR CENTER NEWS

Here we are in September, the ninth month of this year. It marks the start of fall in the Northern Hemisphere and is known for the Harvest Moon, the birthstone sapphire and the flower aster. Historically September is known for the terrorist attacks on America on September 11, 2001, and the beginning of the NFL season. Of all the months of the year, September is spelled with the most letters. Also, September 17 is Constitution Day, the day that the U.S. Constitution was adopted. Now let’s get to the important part—our upcoming menu at the Watonga Senior Citizens Center! We have two beautiful quilts hanging at the center. They were made by the late Judy Poarch Curtin, and are being raffled off by the Cheyenne Quilt Guild at the upcoming Watonga Cheese Festival. One quilt is shades of lavender and green and is queen-sized. The other is a lap quilt and is a Bible block of the month. Tickets are $5 each, or 5 for $20. The first winner drawn will get to pick which of these lovely quilts they will take home. Come see them and buy your tickets.
