SENIOR CENTER NEWS

The first day of fall this year, or the autumnal equinox, is Monday, Sept. 22. A warm fall is predicted for our area. We welcome the change after 100- degree temperatures in July and August. The leaves will begin changing colors, but possibly not until late October around here. Fall reminds me of pumpkins, mums and Halloween. Time seems to be passing by faster and faster! One thing that remains constant is the Watonga Senior Citizens Center. You can come eat with us daily and enjoy the following: Thursday, Sept. 18 Liver and Onions Friday Fried Chicken Monday Chili or Vegetable Soup Tuesday Chicken Casserole Wednesday Ham and Sweet Potatoes (Kiwanis Meets) Thursday, Sept.25 Chicken Strips Friday Roast Beef (Birthday Dinner) If you are a paid member of the center, and you have a birthday in September, you will receive a FREE meal on Friday, Sept. 26. Our annual dues are $15 and help pay the operating costs of the center. Remember, we eat daily, except Wednesday, from 11 a.m.-- 12:30 p.m. On Wednesdays, we eat from 11 a.m. to noon. Call any morning before 10 for home delivery.

Our deliveries were made last week by Hailey Boden, Sharon Barnes, Brenda Stein, Janice Hood and Vernon Brickman. We are grateful for their service.

Our quilters this past week were Louise Cooper, Martha White and Estalene Teply. They are making good progress on the star quilt in the frame.

We will host our twice monthly Fun and Games Night on Saturday, Sept. 27 from 6 -9 p.m. Bring a snack to share and play cards, dominoes, pool and listen to live music. Everyone is welcome.

The 48th Annual Watonga Cheese Festival is coming up soon, Friday and Saturday, Oct. 10 and 11. Come join us Friday, Oct. 10, at the center for a chicken and noodle dinner. We will have a delicious meal before the Cheese Festival festivities begin at 1 p.m. The food vendors may not yet be set up, so eat with us inside out of the weather. Our meal will still be $7.

We also have the Cheyenne Quilt Guild quilts to be raffled off at the Cheese Festival on display at the center now. Chances are $5 each for 5 for $20. It is a chance to own a beautiful handmade quilt!

We have a lot of activities going on at the Watonga Senior Citizens Center so come join us!
