Each year Signal Peak Silica holds a charity golf tournament at Roman Nose State Park Golf Course. Instead of asking local businesses to kick in, Signal Peak uses the novel idea of having its business partners from around the country and the world to host a team. The Watonga Lions Club prepares a cookout meal for the players and the event is usually held in August. This year the company decided, after visiting with administration and staff at Watonga Public Schools, that the tournament would benefit the high school band instrument repair fund. They dropped off the check November 4.

The check was for $6,000. The Lions Club also received a check from Silica Peak for the work they did to feed the contestants. Shown are (L to R) Sutton, Lion Club President Steve House, and Hock. The money donated to the Lions goes into the club’s scholarship fund.
