Have you made your plans for Thanksgiving dinner yet? Got the turkey, ham, stuffing, cranberries, pumpkin pie? If not, you better get started. It seems that after Thanksgiving, all we do is eat and snack. Everywhere you go, holiday favorites are offered and shared. My motherin- law made the best divinity and fudge in December! I have tried to duplicate her recipes, but they do not taste the same. The missing ingredient is love!
Here at the Watonga Senior Citizens Center, we have the missing ingredient— we would love to have you come join us for lunch any day. Our center will be closed Thursday, November 27 and Friday, November 28 for Thanksgiving. Our menu until then is: Thursday, Nov. 20 Liver and Onions Friday Fried Chicken (Birthday Dinner) Monday Vegetable Soup or Chili Tuesday Tater Tot Casserole Wednesday Chicken Salad Sandwiches Thursday, Nov.27Friday Nov. 28 CLOSED for Thanksgiving We eat each day from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., except Wednesday when we eat from 11a.m. to noon. Our meals were delivered last week by Hailey Boden, Brenda Stein, Janice Hood and Vernon Brickman. They would love to deliver to you any day.
Volamae Marks renewed her membership at the center. Our membership is $15 per year. It takes funds to keep our center operating, and membership is a small part of our income. We welcome members at any time of year. As a member, you get a free meal in the month of your birth.
Quilters last week were Estalene Teply, Martha White and Louise Cooper. These talented ladies do an amazing job!
We always have a jigsaw puzzle in the works at the center. Last week, one was completed! The puzzle is a winter scene of cardinals in trees and has more than 1,000 pieces. When completed, only two pieces were missing! It was a lot of work but turned out beautifully. If you like jigsaw puzzles, come work one with us.
On Friday, Nov. 21, the Mercy nurses will be in the center at 9:45 a.m. to take blood pressure and glucose levels. Come and take advantage of this free service.
On Saturday night, Nov. 22, we will have our Fun and Games Night from 6 9 p.m. Come join us for card games, dominoes, pool and live music.
From the Watonga Senior Citizens Center to all our friends, have a safe and healthy Thanksgiving!
