Thanksgiving is here, and for many families it lasts several days. We hope you and your family had a wonderful meal and enjoyed your fellowship. Many families eat then watch football; others plan Black Friday shopping; others start decorating for Christmas. Whatever you do, enjoy your time together because it seems that after Thanksgiving things get hectic. One thing you can depend on is having a fine meal at the Watonga Senior Citizens Center each day. Our upcoming menu is: Thursday and Friday, November 27 and 28 Closed for Thanksgiving Monday, December 1 Vegetable Soup or Chili Tuesday, December 2 Chicken Strips Wednesday, December 3 Breaded Pork Loin (Kiwanis Meets) Thursday, December 4 Spaghetti and Meatballs Friday, December 5 Indian Tacos Call any morning before 10:00 am for home delivery. You don’t have to sign up for meals every day—just when you want or need them. Our deliveries were made last week by Mae Thompson, Sharon Barnes, Brenda Stein, Janice Hood and Vernon Brickman. These dedicated people will be happy to deliver a meal to you any day.
We eat lunch every day except Wednesday, from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm. Wednesdays we eat from 11:00 am to 12:00 noon, because the Kiwanis Club meets for lunch at the Center at noon. You will receive a meal dish, potatoes and gravy, vegetable, salad, homemade roll and homemade dessert with drink for $7.00. Then you get up and leave and don’t have to wash your dishes.
Our quilter last week were Estalene Teply and Louise Cooper, and they finished the lovely star quilt they have been working on for the past few months. Their hand-quilting really brought the quilt to life and I am certain it will be enjoyed for many years. If you have a quilt top that you want handquilted, bring it in and we will be happy to discuss options with you.
We received donations this week from Rebecca Ake and Richard and Sandra Hightower. The Hightowers also renewed their memberships. We thank them for thinking of us.
On Friday, December 5, there will be a tree-lighting ceremony at the Watonga Main Street Park at 6:00 pm. Come join in the fun and watch the Christmas lights being turned on. There will also be some treats to enjoy.
On Saturday, December 6, there will be the annual Christmas Bazaar at the Foley Building at the Blaine County Fairgrounds from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. This is a chance to shop local vendors, buy homemade treats and get your picture taken with Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus. Also, the Cheyenne Quilt Guild will be giving away the two quilts for which they have been selling tickets. The quilts were both made by the late Judy Curtin and her family has allowed them to be used as a fundraiser. Tickets are still available.
Things are beginning to look a lot like Christmas, so come join us at the Watonga Senior Citizens Center. We will love to have you!
