Board Filing Ends Today

Candidate filing for boards of education in Oklahoma began Monday and will close Wednesday at 5 p.m.

In Canton, as of close of business Tuesday, Isaac Sanderson and Heather Smith had tossed their hats into the ring for a school board seat.

At Okeene, Garen Robison had filed and in Watonga, Dr. Dwight McGee is seeking to retain his board seat.

At Geary, Afton Jameson has filed to retain her seat and Karen Looney who was appointed last month to fill an unexpired term for seat #3, is seeking to be elected to that seat.

For the Hydro-Eakly board, Garrett Bernethy is asking to be returned to his school board seat.

In the town of Hydro, Kirk Hartman and Jimmy Fickling are seeking election to the board of trustees. A portion of Hydro lies in Blaine County.

Kevin Vice of Apache is seeking a board seat for the Caddo-Kiowa Tech Center, which serves students from this region as does Chisholm Trail Technology Center.

The next upcoming filing period is April 1-3 and will accept qualified candidates for county assessor, county treasurer and county commissioners #1 and #3.
