Welcome to the busiest time of year, it seems! Our to-do list is growing and our time is running out. The weather this past weekend made it feel like Christmas— very frosty. I saw a quote that said “I wish we could put up some of the Christmas spirit in jars and open a jar of it every month.” How true! It seems that each Christmas season we begin to think more about others than we do all year. That is fine, but how about some Christmas spirit in April or August?
Come have lunch with us at the Watonga Senior Citizens Center any day of the week and we will promise to be kind, grateful and generous; you will also get a warm greeting. We eat each day, except Wednesday, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. On Wednesdays, we eat from 11 a.m. to noon to accommodate the Kiwanis lunch meeting. You will receive a meat dish, potatoes and gravy, a vegetable, salad, drink, homemade roll and homemade dessert for $7. We welcome diners of all ages, whether you come in, get a to-go meal or have home delivery.
Our deliveries were made last week by Hailey Boden, Brenda and Curt Stein, Janice Hood and Vernon Brickman. Our thanks to them.
This week George Anne Bordelon paid her membership dues for next year. Our dues are $15 per year and help keep our center operating. As a member, you will receive a free meal in the month of your birth. This month’s birthday meal is on Friday, December 19. Also, on that day, we will have a meeting of the members of the Watonga Senior Citizens Center and a meeting of the center board. If you are a member, please attend this meeting at 9:45 a.m. on Friday.
Our menu for the next week is: Thursday, Dec. 18 Liver and Onions Friday Fried Chicken (Birthday Dinner) Monday Vegetable Soup or Chil Tuesday Chicken Casserole Wednesday Roast Pork Thursday-Friday Closed As you can see, the end of the year is approaching fast. If you have some funds you must donate before then, please think of us. Our expenses have risen, just as yours have. Another quote: “Christmas is not necessarily about things. It’s about being good to one another.” Merry Christmas from the Watonga Senior Citizens Center!
