SENIOR CENTER NEWS

As you read this, you are probably getting ready for Christmas! There are several reasons to celebrate this season, but the main reason is the birth of our savior, Jesus. We gather together to worship him and to be with family and friends. Whatever way you celebrate, enjoy gathering with loved ones. Some of you believe in Santa, and he came early this year to the Watonga Senior Citizens Center on Dec. 19, in the form of a giant check from the Watonga Masonic Lodge for $5,486! This is truly a blessing, and we are very appreciative of the Masonic Lodge and its support. We also received donations from the Cheyenne Quilt Guild for the raffle of a quilt made by the late Judy Curtin, and from George Ann Bordelon.

We received memorial donations from the Cheyenne Quilt Guild for Gene Matli and Emily Stinson. Chub and Janet Edsall also donated in memory of Gene and Bob Matli.

Our menu this week: Thursday -Friday, Dec. 25 -26 Closed for Christmas Monday Vegetable Soup or Chili Tuesday Chicken Strips Wednesday Breaded Pork Loin Thursday and Friday, Jan.1 – 2 Closed for New Years The nurses from Mercy Hospital were in the center Dec. 19, and took blood pressure and glucose levels. This is a wonderful, free service and we appreciate it very much.

Our deliveries were made this week by Hailey Boden, Sharon Barnes, Curt and Brenda Stein and Vernon Brickman. They are like Santa’s elves— always smiling and ready to serve.

On Saturday, Dec.27, we will host our final Fun and Games Night of 2025. This is from 6-9 p.m., and everyone is encouraged to bring a snack to share, then enjoy an evening of dominoes, cards, pool and live music.

The Watonga Senior Citizens Center wishes all of you a very Merry Christmas. “The best gift around any Christmas tree is the presence of a happy family all wrapped up in each other.”
