It's A Christmasphile's Dream

This time of year, is a Christmasphile's dream. It's mine, too. The television stations have started earlier than ever this year (all of November) with their nonstop offerings of holiday pap and I'm lovin' it.

On Nov. 16, Oklahoma celebrated its 115th anniversary of Statehood. Watonga’s own Thompson B Ferguson, the 6th Territorial Governor of Oklahoma, played a major role in pushing Statehood for Oklahoma.

The Ferguson Home Museum had several visitors on Saturday. Two men who are the great-grandsons of the Cordell family that owned the home after purchasing it from the Ferguson estate. One of the men was a retired Navy officer living in New Hampshire now.

I thought I would like to tell you about Governor Ferguson. His name was Thompson Benton Ferguson, not Thomas as some people think. He was educated as a Methodist minister and taught school for a few years in Sedan, Kansas. Mrs. Ferguson’s father was a newspaper owner/editor.
