2021 in Review

As the end of 2021 nears, I feel it incumbent on me to review what has happened to us this past year, see where any or all of it went wrong (kidding) and hope for the best in 2022 by not repeating most of it. January started like it usually does – cold, windy, and a little bit snowy.

Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and was able to spend time with family and friends. There weren’t any visitors through the Home this week because of Christmas. In the early years most of the county seat towns were supplied by stage lines and star routes.

It will be different to walk in the Museum and not see the Christmas Trees the various businesses decorated for us after next week. They all are beautiful in their own way. We had four visitors this week. We are glad people still want to take time to come visit during this busy time.

Dear Editor, This week, we celebrate the one­year anniversary of the first vaccines against COVID19 given in Watonga. Mercy Health Care offered the Pfizer mRNA vaccine to their employees in December 2020. In that time, first responders and those in high­risk medical settings were prioritized.

A Lamp to My Feet

Today, we begin looking at the prophecy of Habakkuk. Little is known about Habakkuk. This is the only time this name is mentioned in the Bible. All we know is that he was a contemporary of Jeremiah. From the book we learn that it was written before the defeat of Jerusalem by Babylon in 597 BC.

We didn’t have as much traffic for the Breakfast with Santa as we’ve had in the past. There was also another fund raiser going on the same time which we were glad to share with. The ones that came seemed to enjoy seeing Santa.

Holly and Nicholas were excited. Today was the day they got to spend the day drinking hot cocoa their favorite way – with marshmallows and chocolate chips and piled high with whipped cream. It was a once-a-year holiday treat.

Several people stopped by our table at the Christmas Bazaar and 10 went to the museum afterwards. There weren’t as many vendors at the bazaar as there have been in the past but there seemed to be a steady stream of people passing through. The Grinch and Mr. & Mrs. Santa Claus were there too.
