A Lamp to My Feet

Today, we will begin looking at the book of Zephaniah. Verse 1 tells us when Zephaniah prophesied: “in the days of Josiah the son of Amon, king of Judah.” Josiah was the last good king that Judah had. 2 Kings 22:1 tells us that he was only 8 years old when he began to reign, and he reigned 31 years.

We had one visitor this week in between cold days. Clay was out this week and helped Barbara set up her office. The walls were painted and carpet was laid on the back porch room so it can be used for the office. He also worked putting weather stripping on the doors.

How Did We Survive?

Our outdoor fancyschmancy thermometer/rain gauge must think I'm a clueless simp. It's not 100% wrong but how does it know? This artificial intelligence technology is getting scary. Anyway, I KNOW it's cold.

This will be our last article dealing with Habakkuk. Remember that Habakkuk is different than the other books of prophecy. It is more like the book of Job in that Habakkuk is talking to God instead of an audience of people. He reaffirms his faith in God and His dealing with individuals and nations.

Hi everyone! I hope you are all doing well as we start this new year. I hope it will be a better year for all of us. We had a great time Saturday night. We had 23 people come out to listen to music and play games. And we had some delicious food.

No visitors this week. Visitors are probably getting back into their routines after the holidays. I received a notice from Google Photos that four years ago this past week a Navy couple came, best I can remember, from Louisiana, to get married. Cindy had the home fixed up nicely.

2021 in Review Pt. 2

Last week I reviewed the first six months of 2021. We can all agree that the last two years have not exactly been exactly full of carefree fun and would best be forgotten so let’s get started with the month of... July.

Happy New Year! I have noticed that time flies by for those who stay busy. It wouldn’t surprise me if that is why some people can spend hours doing nothing. It makes them feel that their lives are passing slowly.

Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and was able to spend time with family and friends. There weren’t any visitors through the Home this week because of Christmas. In the early years most of the county seat towns were supplied by stage lines and star routes.

If you remember our last lesson we learned that Habakkuk is never mentioned again in the Bible except in this little book of prophecy that bears his name. Today I began to think about that. Do you realize that once we are dead and gone, it won’t be long that only a few people will remember us?
