State Bound! Lady Eagles Win Regional Meet

Watonga made a strong showing Saturday at the Regional track meet in Okemah, capturing a dominant first-place finish on the girls side and fourth for the boys. With the victory, the Lady Eagles move on to the State track meet in Ardmore on Saturday with a chance for another 2A state championship.

The Watonga baseball team knew it was in for a tough day against Calera, the top team in District 2A-4 this season with an undefeated district record. The Bi-District Tournament was delayed one day by wet field conditions, but the Eagles finally met the Bulldogs on the field on Friday, April 30, and were swept in the best-of-three series by scores of 9-1 and 10-0 The losses dropped Watonga to 4-25 on the season, according to the OSSAA.

Geary Baseball, Softball Seasons End In District Tourney GEARY - The Bison have wrapped up their spring on the diamond, as both the baseball and softball teams fell in their District tournaments last week to end the season. The baseball team traveled to Maysville, where they matched up with the Warriors and the Oilton Panthers.

Watonga Student Named CTTC Student of the Year

Watonga High School student Kerby Easter has been named one of the students of the year for 2020- 2021 at the Chisholm Trail Technology Center. Easter, a Watonga High School student involved in the CTTC welding program, won the honors for the second quarter of the year.

Watonga Eagles High School golfer

Watonga Eagles High School golfer, sophomore Natalie Walker braved the cold and wind on April 20th to take first as an Individual Qualifier for Regionals. Walker is the sole golfer this season for Watonga High School. Coached by Kirk Graham, Natalie has placed in the top ten of every tournament she has competed in this season; tying for second place in two. Regionals are held Tuesday, April 27th at Turkey Creek Golf Course in Hennessey. If Walker places in the top six of individual competitors she will advance to the State Tournament May 5th and 6th.

Rinehart Homers But Eagles Drop 2 in Hinton

Watonga’s Joe Rinehart stole the show Monday evening in Hinton, launching a solo home run to straightaway center field that kept the Eagles in the ballgame. But the blast wasn’t enough to overcome an onslaught of offense from the Comets, who took game one of the doubleheader by a 16-11 score.
