The Watonga Wrestling program honored its seniors on Tuesday, Feb. 8, with a ceremony before the Eagles’ matchup with Kingfisher. Joe Jackson, Shawn Johnson and Tanner Williams were recognized, along with their families, by head coach Grant Williams before Watonga won the meet 39-15.

Joe Jackson, a regular feature in the Watonga Republican during football season, had a breakout year in his fall senior season, where he played quarterback for the Eagles. Joe is a lighthearted, funny guy and is looking forward to his future goals outside of hig school.

Geary Wrestling celebrated its seniors and crowned a Homecoming King & Queen last Tuesday, Jan. 25 in the Stegall-Long Fieldhouse. Ashliegh Charley won Homecoming Queen and Chris Ward was named King. Ward was also honored, along with Major Lewis, as the program’s graduating seniors in 2022.

Eagles Pick Up Wins Friday, Saturday

The Watonga Eagles and Lady Eagles basketball teams swept the weekend, picking up Friday victories over Mooreland at home and then traveling to Enid for matchups with OBA on Saturday night. The boys are now 17-2 and ranked No. 8 in Class 2A by the OSSAA. The girls are 15-4 and ranked No. 15.

Coyle Tournament Swept by Eagles

Saturday evening was packed with action by both Eagle teams playing the Okarche Warriors in the Coyle Tournament Championships. The Lady Eagles (13-3) were up against the Okarche Lady Warriors (19-2) and they were ready for redemption.
