Geary Homecoming & Senior Night

Geary Wrestling celebrated its seniors and crowned a Homecoming King & Queen last Tuesday, Jan. 25 in the Stegall-Long Fieldhouse. Ashliegh Charley won Homecoming Queen and Chris Ward was named King. Ward was also honored, along with Major Lewis, as the program’s graduating seniors in 2022.

Eagles Pick Up Wins Friday, Saturday

The Watonga Eagles and Lady Eagles basketball teams swept the weekend, picking up Friday victories over Mooreland at home and then traveling to Enid for matchups with OBA on Saturday night. The boys are now 17-2 and ranked No. 8 in Class 2A by the OSSAA. The girls are 15-4 and ranked No. 15.

Athlete Spotlight: The Ginger File

“I really enjoy making people laugh,” Dakota Morris, a junior from Watonga High School, said. Morris is an athlete and a part of the student body. He plays football, baseball, and he wrestles. He is involved in the student council body, being the treasurer, and he is in the National Honor Society.

Lawson Wins at Clinton Tourney

Quaid Lawson (left) took first place in the middle school 195 weight class at the Clinton Hub City Tournament on Saturday, Jan. 22. Other top finishers included Hollis Harrall (second), Chris Ward (third) and Sergio Pineda (fifth).

Coyle Tournament Swept by Eagles

Saturday evening was packed with action by both Eagle teams playing the Okarche Warriors in the Coyle Tournament Championships. The Lady Eagles (13-3) were up against the Okarche Lady Warriors (19-2) and they were ready for redemption.

Athlete Spotlight: Dunn Plans to Head to the Big House

Deondre Dunn is a multisport athlete for the Eagles, and as a senior, he is beginning to wrap up his final seasons. He plays football and basketball, and he runs track. Dunn is also in the Heritage Club at Watonga. Deondre is the lead scorer for the Eagles, dropping more than 20 points every game.

Jaydin Leger is a senior at Geary High School and is looking forward to graduating this year. He has a passion for helping people, and is on the school’s football, basketball, and baseball teams. He enjoys listening to music and playing video games.
