Watonga Grad Inducted Into Coaches HOF

Watonga native and 1982 graduate, Cliff Ice, son of Bill and Prissy Ice, was inducted into the Missouri Football Coaches Hall of Fame on Friday, Dec. 10. Coach Ice graduated from Southwestern Oklahoma State University in 1987.

Athlete Spotlight: Whiteshield is Eagles’ Leading Rebounder

Laron Whiteshield is a junior at Watonga High School, and is described as being a polite and kind-hearted person with a passion for basketball. In fact, he considers it to be his only hobby.

Champs! Lady Eagles Take State

The Watonga Lady Eagles won the 2021 2A state championship for track and field on Saturday, May 8. Led by seniors Jocelyn Turney and Riley Coleman, the Lady Eagles finished 29.5 points ahead of second-place Stroud. They also won the academic state title.

Southern Oklahoma Invitational

Watonga Wrestling sent nine boys to the Southern Oklahoma Invitational in Duncan this past weekend. Ernesto Duenez placed for the Eagles, finishing fifth in his weight class. Athlete Spotlight: Espinoza Enjoying Last Basketball Season at Geary

Raul Espinoza is an 18- year-old senior currently on the Geary Bison basketball team. He’s very active in his school settings, as he is a part of the Business Professionals of America program at his school, and is involved in Student Council. Espinoza enjoys being outdoors, especially when fishing.

Ward Wins Weatherford

Finney vs. Finney

The Geary boys and girls took on Gracemont last Friday, Dec. 17, in a matchup that pitted father against son. Gracemont is coached by Patrick Finney, and the Geary boys by son Christian Finney (right). Christian came out on top in the pair’s first matchup, as the Bison edged the Lions in overtime.
