Easter and Wiggins Both Advance to 2020 Powerlifting State Tourney

The Watonga High School boys’ varsity powerlifting team had two Eagles rise to the occasion on Friday, March 6 at the 2020 Northwest Regional boys’ small school powerlifting tournament in Bridge Creek as junior Kerby Easter and senior Brandon Wiggins both qualified for the upcoming state tournament.

Lady Eagles’ Varsity Slow-Pitch Softball Opens Thursday vs. Calumet

The Lady Eagles will host the Lady Chieftains at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 12 for Watonga’s 2020 season opener vs. Calumet. Following a return from Spring Break, the Lady Eagles’ varsity slowpitch squad will travel at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 24 for a road game at Kingfisher High School then will come back home on Thursday, March 26 to host the annual 2020 Watonga Festival slow-pitch tournament. Participating teams and brackets for the upcoming softball tournament held at Watonga High School are still to be determined.

Bracket Contest Returns, New Prize Up for Grabs

Next Thursday marks the traditional start of this year’s NCAA men’s basketball tournament, which produces a lot of associated betting opportunities, many of which come in the way of bracket contests between friends, or in offices and bars. The tournament will technically start next Tuesday and Wednesday night with the “First Four” games in Dayton, Ohio, but most consider Thursday the official start of the tournament.
