Recycled Tire Gardens Yield Learning Experiences

STILLWATER, Okla. – A Hughes County recycled tire garden project has been recognized as a finalist for the Keep Oklahoma Beautiful Environmental Excellence award. The program focuses on teaching Choctaw Nation youth and adults to grow and market culturally relevant crops.

Hi everybody! I hope you’re all doing good. I’m actually writing this on Sunday evening. I’m anxious to see how much snow we’ll be getting on Monday. Of course they change the forecast every time you watch. Yesterday we were gonna get six inches on Monday and more on Tuesday. This evening we’re down to between one and three inches. It’ll be interesting to see if we get any.

Now that Thanksgiving and Christmas are looming large, I think it's time for me to stop spuddling about when I should be getting this house in order. I think someday in the not-so-near future seems like a reasonable goal, dontcha think?

Oler Found Guilty on all Counts

Following a two-day trial, Christopher Oler was found guilty on all nine counts against him. Those counts were three charges of sexual abuse on a child less than 12 years old, one count of firstdegree rape on a child under 14 and one of first-degree rape by force or fear. There were two further acts of lewd or indecent acts with a child less than 16, one of possession of child porn and one of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Ribbons Fly at Newly Rebuilt Runway

After what has seemed like a very long wait, the runway at Watonga Regional Airport is fully operational and has been in the spotlight at its ribbon-cutting. The ribbon-cutting, held Tuesday, was celebrated by city officials, members of the public and various dignitaries from the Oklahoma Aeronautics Commission and the Department of Transportation.

Elementary Staff Member of the Month

was recently selected by her peers as October Staff Member of the Month for Geary Elementary. This is Ms. Hubbard's first year as a faculty member with Geary Public Schools. As the Elementary Reading Interventionist, she works with students who have been identified as needing more literacy support than can be provided in the regular classroom. She meets with students individually or in small groups, and designs interventions tailored to each student's need
