New Shop at Casino

The grand opening of NDN Pony Trading Post will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 13. The store is located at 1407 S Clarence Nash Blvd. at the Lucky Star Casino inside their gift shop in Watonga. The store hours will be Sunday – Thursday 8 a.m. - 8 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m.-9 p.m.

Unless you have been hiding under a rock, you know there is a municipal election coming up. Several, actually, including Watonga, Okeene, Canton, Longdale and Geary.
Visitors to the Blaine County Courthouse will now have to access the upper and lower floors via stairs, as the elevator was recently damaged by firefighters extracting a trapped individual. It may take a year for the new doors to be manufactured and installed.

There was a close call Thursday at the Blaine County Courthouse. Luckily, there were plenty of heroes on hand to answer that call.According to Watonga Fire Chief Robert Daugherty, his department was dispatched to the courthouse for a subject trapped in the elevator and a smell of smoke.

Sample Ballots Now Available

The Blaine County Election Board has released its sample ballots for the April 1 municipal elections. The last date to register to vote is March 7. Ballots are resident specific.The Canton ballot includes Jodi Nelson Vowell, Greg Ryan and Roger Gibson as candidates for the board of trustees.

Under a bill that has passed out of the Senate Agriculture and Wildlife committee, mock meat might have a hard go of it in Oklahoma.The bill, SB 96, requires cell-cultured meats or insect-protein food products to be clearly labeled as such.
