In her book “They Carried the Torch: The story of Early Oklahoma Newspapers,” Elva Ferguson mentions telephone service being installed, including in the Watonga Republican office. Zumwalt Announces Retirement from Oklahoma Tourism and Recreation Department

OKLAHOMA CITY ( — After more than a decade of state service, Shelley Zumwalt announced today her retirement as Executive Director of the Oklahoma Tourism and Recreation Department (OTRD) to pursue the next phase of her career in the private sector.

Tourney Scores Hole in One for Schools, Service Organization

Signal Peak Silica became determined to help the golf teams at Watonga and Clinton high schools. To do that, it seemed natural to hold a golf tournament. The site was Roman Nose State Park golf course.J.R.

Medicare Town Hall Slated

AARP Oklahoma is hosting an interactive telephone town hall focusing on the Medicare open enrollment period on October 8 at 10 a.m. Open enrollment is Oct. 15 through December 7.
