WATONGA — Michele Wood was the freshman and sophomore English teacher at Watonga High School. From being a journalist to a teacher, she led a free-spirited life that will be remembered by everyone she crossed paths with. Michele died on Friday, March 11 at the age of 61. Her death was unexpected and sent shockwaves through the town of Watonga as her students, colleagues, friends, and family mourned.

City Will Restart 3 Boards Focused on Growth, Development

WATONGA – Watonga city leaders agreed last week to work on revitalizing three committees that focus on growth and development in the town. The Watonga Planning and Zoning Committee and the Board of Adjustments have both been inactive for some time, City Manager Karrie Beth Little explained, but could prove necessary as Watonga seeks to attract new businesses and development.

This comes after the largest drug bust in state history shut down a dozen grow facilities, confiscated $500 million in illegal marijuana and resulted in 13 arrests.

Geary City Council: Candidates Discuss Vision for City

GEARY – Two candidates have filed for the vacant Ward Four seat in the City of Geary and will go head­tohead next month in a bid to replace Cody Wright, who moved late last year. Kim Lewis and Cory Hicks are vying to join the board, which is currently comprised of Cozetta Johnson, Tabbitha Kiener, Mary Hays and Mayor Bobby Allen.

Caddo County Retired Educators Monthly Meeting

The Caddo County Retired Educators held their monthly meeting February 14th, at the Caddo Kiowa CTC. There were 12 members present. Pam’s Phillips gave the February devotion over Love and Marilyn Graham reported on the minutes from the last meeting. The group were then given an interesting and informative tour of the Criminal Justice Department by Billy Scott and the Culinary Arts Department by Debbie Driver. Both programs are offered to students at CKTC.
