New Year’s Snow

Body
Blaine County didn’t have a white Christmas, with unseasonably warm weather lasting throughout the month of December. Temperatures plummeted on New Year’s Day, however, and western Oklahoma greeted 2022 with a dusting of fresh snow. High temperatures were back in the 50s by Monday, but another front is expected to make for a chilly Thursday, Jan. 6, before things warm up again. There is no more precipitation in the forecast for the next several days.

SENIOR CENTER NEWS

Body
Hi everyone! I hope you all had a very merry Christmas. Ours was quiet, John and I went out to the fairgrounds to help with the Christmas dinners they were giving away. It was a lot of work for all the volunteers, but a lot of people had good dinners for Christmas. I don’t know how many dinners were given out. The last count I heard was 126 and more were given out after that. Things were fairly quiet at the center last week. Except Wednesday, when Kiwanis brought in entertainment for their meeting. It was Cabe Bell who provided great music for all of us. He is such a talented young man. He can play any song you request. We heard a lot of Christmas songs we could even sing along to. We really enjoyed Cabe and his parents, Dustin and Gigi Bell. Thank you, Kiwanis, for inviting them. January 8th will be our first music and games night for 2022. So, mark your calendars so you don’t miss it. We’ll be there from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Another thing to mark on your calendar is on January 21st. That day we’ll have local nurses in to check blood pressures and blood sugar. No need for an appointment. Just come in between 10:30 and noon. And it’s all free. So, plan to come. It looks like we may be giving our bus back to the state. There has been no need for it in quite some time. We will be discussing it at our board meeting on January 10th. Let us know what you think about it. Should we let it go back to the state? These were our meal carriers last week. Pat Brewer, Sharon Barnes and Karen Dugger, Janice Hood and Mary Brown. We were closed on Friday. Thanks to all of you for helping us with this project. This is our menu for the next few days. Call before 10 a.m. for a meal to be delivered. Call before noon for a meal to be picked up. 623-4511.
