Bill Would Move School Board Elections

OKLAHOMA CITY – Rep. Chris Banning, RBixby, has filed legislation seeking to change the date of school board elections in Oklahoma. House Bill 3563 would place school board members on the same cycle as House and Senate elections.

Early Voting Begins

Early voting begins Thursday, Feb. 8 for voters in Canadian County. Voters who will not be able to make it to the polls on election day have the option of voting early at their County Election Board. Canadian County Election Board Secretary Allen Arnold said early voting is open to all voters.

Internet Savings Program to Close

According to the Federal Communications Commission, the Affordable Connectivity Program that provided free or low-cost internet access to eligible customers will end in April. No new applications will be accepted after Feb. 9, 2024. The end date is an estimate and is subject to change.

County Students Gear Up For Stock Show Season

It is almost time for the Blaine County Livestock Show and the associated events including the bonus auction. The show will begin at 8 a.m. on Saturday, February 17 with hogs showing first. That will be followed by goats and sheep. Cattle will be shown beginning at 1 p.m. Sunday, February 18.
