OKLAHOMA CITY – With respiratory season approaching, the Oklahoma State Department of Health (OSDH) is encouraging individuals to help prevent illness by getting their flu shot. Influenza, also known as the flu, is caused by a virus that affects the nose, throat, airways and lungs.

OG&E Will Lower Costs

Oklahoma Gas and Electric Company (OG&E) is lowering customer bills effective Nov. 1 when the electric company lowers the fuel charge on each customer’s monthly bill. The average residential customer will see a reduction of $20.

Senate Seeks Solution to Turkey Population Decline

OKLAHOMA CITY – The Senate Tourism and Wildlife Committee heard from wildlife experts Monday about why Oklahoma has seen a significant decline it its turkey population. Sen. Blake “Cowboy” Stephens, R-Tahlequah, requested the study to find possible legislative solutions to increase their numbers.

Bison Pilot Programs Begin

WASHINGTON, – The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is announcing partnerships for a new, interagency pilot project aimed at offering more localized ground bison meat for tribal communities through the Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations (FDPIR).

Pecan Projection Looks Promising for Fall Harvest

STILLWATER, Okla. – Wind storms earlier this year, coupled with a late spring freeze in 2021 and an early fall freeze in 2022, have wreaked havoc on Oklahoma’s pecan crop the past couple of years, but the 2023 outlook is good with harvest on the horizon.

BERLIN (AP) — Germany’s chancellor and president strongly denounced a rise in antisemitism in Germany in the wake of the Israel-Hamas war in separate appearances Sunday that stressed the same idea that it is unacceptable for such hatred to flourish in the nation that perpetrated the Holocaust.

Well, y’all, my week has started out lousy. My nightmare started Friday. I’ve been working on making Christmas stockings for the three new family members. I get the machine out once a year, so it takes a while to get back into the groove. I have managed to complete one.
