Art Camp Set This Week at Geary

An art camp will be held from 1-3 p.m. through June 22 for middle and high school students. They will focus on painting and murals. They will study color theory, mixing and matching colors, projection art and socially engaged art.

Bouncy Splash House Coming to Park

Come join us for a day of fun at the park. Bring your family and friends, including parents, and don't forget your camera. There will be two slides, one for kids ages 10-and up along with any brave parents. There will also be a bounce house with a slide for kids 0-9.

Keith Coast at Library Summer Program

Keith Coast appeared June 19 at the Geary Community Center. He performed music and magic for the children (and adults) in the audience. It was part of the library summer reading and entertainment series designed to keep kids busy, learning and engaged through the school holiday.

Local Student Named on Centenary College Spring 2023 Dean's List

SHREVEPORT, LA A total of 188 Centenary students, including one from Watonga, have been named to the Dean's List for Spring 2023. The honor list names all students who have achieved a grade point average of 3.5 or higher in 12 or more semester hours taken for a letter grade during the fall semester.

That was some round of storms Saturday. As you have probably seen, the ancient elm tree at the TB Ferguson Home was a casualty. Luckily the house next door and the Ferguson itself were spared. I usually enjoy starting plants, coaxing them from seed or clips from other plants to create a new plant.

Study Predicts Arkansas River Flow Will Continue to Diminish

The Arkansas River could have about 30 percent less water by the end of the century due to climate change, a new study out of Oklahoma State University predicts. The study looks at the Arkansas River basin as a whole, which flows through Colorado, the southern half of Kansas and Oklahoma.

Women in Ag Conference June 30

Oklahoma State University Extension will host the AgricultHer Women in Ag Conference June 30 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Eastern Oklahoma State College Student Center Ballroom in Wilburton. The conference registration deadline is June 14.

Redlands Enrollment Increased for Summer

EL RENO, Okla. — Many high school and college students aren’t taking a break this summer as Redlands Community College is seeing a 9.9% increase in enrollment for the current eight-week session. With an increase in several areas, enrollment is up 23.7% in concurrent students and 4.8% in sophomores.
