Goodbye, 2022 Glad to See You Go

Well, here I sit, Dec. 31, 2022, waiting for midnight like we do this time every year, with one exception. What's that, you ask? Well, I'll tell ya. David and I are not staying up late to welcome the New Year. What we will be doing is making sure the old one leaves.

EWS Hey, everybody! We made it to 2023, I hope you all had a good New Year’s Eve and Day. I know 2023 has to be better than 2022. At last we can hope it will be. We went to the Senior Citizen’s on Saturday night and played dominoes and pool. Others played cards. David Green played music for us.

New Commissioners Gain Seats at Table

When the Blaine County Commission held its first meeting of 2023, there were two new faces at the table. Traci Matli and Darryl Hicks had just been sworn in as new commissioners, filling the seats of retiring commissioners Raymond Scheffler and Mike Allen, respectively.

Buchanan Contract Renewed by Geary School Board

The Geary School Board met Monday in regular session and following opening ceremonies, heard from James Kerr of Kerr 3 Architects. HE had worked with the district on the failed bond issue and was there to outline what the next steps for the schools might be.

There is no question the City of Watonga is in need of a wastewater treatment plant and a freshwater treatment facility. The only questions are how much the infrastructure will cost and how it will be paid for.

In an eerily familiar scenario, a (former) Watonga police officer is himself in hot water with the law. According to a probable cause affidavit filed in Blaine County, Jason Lynn Porter was arrested Dec. 21 in relation to a May incident.

June 22 Dudley Announces Departure Like Lincoln Riley, I'm heading for the coast. Just the opposite one. In two weeks, I'll be starting a new job in Washington, D.C., at The Daily Caller News Foundation. I'm going to miss the low cost of living and wide-open spaces of western Oklahoma.
