Burn Ban Reinstated on Weekly Basis

At the regular meeting of the Blaine County Commission Monday, the county body reinstated the countywide burn ban. Commissioners said they would continue to revisit the matter on a weekly basis and lift it when – and if – the fall rains begin to fall.

Board Accepts Resignations, Hires New Staff

The Geary School Board met in regular session Oct. 3. All members were present. Christi Burns, who serves as the principal for the middle and high schools, said the students really enjoyed the scavenger hunt hosted during the Geary Fair.

2022 Alzheimer’s Association Enid Walk To End Alzheimer’s

On Oct. 7, Enid area residents will join the fight to end Alzheimer’s disease at the Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s — the world’s largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s care, support, and research.

Lions Hear Candidates

Donna Bell and Misty Kitson were guest speakers at the Oct. 3 meeting of the Watonga Lions Club. They are candidates for the Blaine County Assessor’s Office. That election will take place Nov. 8.

EWS Hello, everyone! Glad to be back with you. Hope you’re all doing fine. It’s been so nice the last few days. Must be about time for a cold front with freezing temperatures. That’s the way it seems to go. Little fall and spring, long summers and winters. At least we’re not flooded like Florida.

The Reluctant Traveler

I don't know if it's my age, my affinity for imitating a sloth, or my overall reluctance to spend any money on myself, but lately, I don't seem to be my same old adventurous self. BC (Before Covid) I'd be packed and out the door at the drop of a hat, but I seem to have lost my hat.

Ferguson Features

We had visitors every day this week. A couple from Oklahoma City and two couples from Seminole, Oklahoma. One of the couples had been to the museum about 35 years ago and brought their friends. He told me to start from the beginning with the history because they didn’t remember after all this time.

Blaine County Accidents Kill One, Injure Two Others

An 11-year-old child died in an auto accident north of Southard Sept. 30. According to a report from the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, a Jeep driven by Jennifer Lee Hughes Bailey, 47, of Wetumpka was involved in a single vehicle accident on south of OK-51 and 650 Road.
