Schoonmaker Earns Barney Award

The Bob Barney Award was presented to Amanda Schoonmaker of Canton FFA at the Blaine County Fair. The award is won on an accumulation of points from placings in the livestock show and 4-H and FFA members strive to win this award.

STILLWATER, Okla. ¬– When Joel Jackson was hired as the meat pilot plant manager at the Robert M. Kerr Food and Agricultural Products Center, his goal was to open a Cowboy Meats Retail Store. Available to the public, the Cowboy Meats Retail Store is now open 1-5 p.m. every Friday at FAPC.

Watonga's two Love's Country stores are in competition with one another as they try to raise money for the Children's Miracle Network. Sammy Jo Sinclair, assistant manager at Love's Country Store No. 1 in Watonga, said the money raised will go to the Children's Hospital in Oklahoma City.

The Blaine County Commissioners met in postponed session Tuesday, the delay forced by the Labor Day holiday. The commissioners determined to leave the existing burn ban in place for the county, citing the continuing hot, dry conditions as justification.
