The First Christian Church of Geary dedicated its new Brown Event Center this past Sunday, April 10, with a cookout and a prayer. The Brown Center features a basketball court, playground and picnic pavilion; it is named for the generous couple who helped make it possible.

My Alexa device just told me it was now 81 degrees on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. Now we will wait and see what kind of rain and windy weather we will see on Tues. Last week was a very busy one in Hinton. The election turn-out was impressive and I saw many of our Sr. citizens come in to vote.

Driving Each Other To An Early Demise

I'm convinced my husband is out to drive me to an early demise. (I heard that.) I have this 'thing' that will probably drive him to his early demise as well. I spend my days following him around turning off lights, sometimes when he's still in the room.

We had seven visitors this week. A man that went to school in Taloga remembered coming to the museum for a tour when he was in school. We had a group of Post Masters come for a tour this week. One from Simpsonville, South Carolina and four from Oklahoma: Westville, Cleveland, Idabel, and Hydro.

Watonga native Mae Hartfield celebrated her 101st birthday on Thursday, April 7, at the Cimarron Nursing Center in Kingfisher. Residents enjoyed cake and punch and sang Happy Birthday for Hartfield, who posed for photos with friends and the Cimarron staff. Her family visited her later that day.

GEARY – A Geary woman is in custody this week after a house fire and grass fires sprang up Thurs day in the heart of town, decimating the home. April Ibarra was arrested that day on suspicion of arson and was booked into the Blaine County Jail.

WATONGA – Watonga High School students had to work from home for one day last week after a busted water line flooded some areas of the campus. The flooding started on Wednesday afternoon, April 6, and kept WHS students home for the day on April 7.
