Shawn Kays, the Watonga police officer who had served as the department’s chief since 2018, has been reassigned as a patrol officer.
The move comes two weeks after Kays was placed on paid administrative leave while his position and employment were under review.

Ferguson Market Kicks Off During Town-Wide Garage Sale

This last weekend was the town-wide garage sale and Ferguson Farmers Market. It was a great way to get out of the house and declutter. It was a fun way to go see people and get things that were affordable.
At the Ferguson Farmers Market, there were things such as a makeup stand and baked goods.

3 Injured in Collision Near Watonga

Three people were injured on Sunday afternoon after a Watonga man had a medical problem while driving and collided with a motorcycle.
Earl Devon Boyd, 84, was driving a Lincoln Town Car Sunday when the wreck occurred around 2:42 p.m., officials said.

Geary High School Alumni Banquet Sees Good Turnout on Memorial Day

More than 100 Geary High School alumni met in the Stegall Long Field House on Memorial Day to reminisce, catch up and honor the classes of 1970 and 1971.
Monday marked the first Geary reunion in two years, as the annual event was canceled in 2020 because of the coronavirus pandemic.

Roman Nose Pool Now Open Again for First Time Since 2019

A large swimming pool at Roman Nose State Park that dates back to the Rooseveltera Civilian Conservation Corps is now open again, with new upgrades, after being closed throughout 2020.
The pool will be open every Wednesday through Sunday from 12 to 7 p.m. through Labor Day, park officials said.
