Lions Club Brisket Feed & Cake Auction Thursday

The annual Watonga Lions Club brisket dinner and cake/dessert auction will be held this Thursday, May 27, at 6 p.m. at the Blaine County Fairgrounds. Featuring mouth-watering brisket and sumptuous desserts, this time-honored tradition features the work of excellent Blaine County cooks.

2021 Lions Club Scholarship

2021 Lions Club Scholarship recipients were Jocelyn Turney, Caton Cope, Kaylee Barnes, Breanna Bay, Jaryn Lehman, and Riley Coleman. Lions Club awarded a total of $4,000 in scholarship money to these six individuals.

Weatherford Food Pantry Expands Service Area to Geary

The Weatherford Food & Resource Center is expanding its service area to include Geary, Hinton and Lookeba beginning June 1.

Blaine County To Vote on Tax Measure July 13

A special election will be held in Blaine County on July 13 to determine whether a current sales tax can be used for new construction. The ballot question would not change, increase or decrease any existing taxes, but rather would expand the ways in which the tax can be spent.

Geary Library Wants to Reunite Locals with Old Photos

In the back room of the Geary Public Library, where the nonfiction books live, the room’s central table is covered in photographs. Boxes of photos from decades past fill the room. The pictures have a bit of everything: prom photos, community events, school pictures, traditional Native ceremonies.

Lake Watonga Updates

Pictured here are the water levels, or lack thereof, at Lake Watonga as of May 24, 2021. The lake was drained this spring so the state can repair its dam, which was leaking and eroding away. The lake should be refilled by late August, officials said.

Hi everyone! Hope everything is going well for all of you this week. Well, John and I stirred thing up this week when we took the senior citizen bus to Oklahoma City to a Sam’s Club for supplies, on our way home we decided to stop at Hooters to see our granddaughter who works there.
