Jennifer Haigler is the sitting Blaine County Clerk and is running for re-election as a Republican. That election is June 30. Haigler, a lifelong resident of the county and graduate of Canton High School, was working at Diamondback Correctional Facility in 2010 when it closed.

A Bubble Off Plumb

When I accepted the job as editor for the Watonga Republican, within a few days I had a letter from Rep. Mike Sanders congratulating me and welcoming me. It wasn’t something he had to do. It was the only letter I got from an elected state official. It just says a lot about the kind of guy he is.

Gas Prices Continue to Rise in Oklahoma

Oklahoma gas prices have risen 2.4 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $1.63/g today, according to GasBuddy's daily survey of 2,294 stations. Gas prices in Oklahoma are 27.9 cents per gallon higher than a month ago and stand 92.1 cents per gallon lower than a year ago.

Covid-19 Updates

The number of Covid-19 cases in Blaine County continue to creep up, but are offset by recoveries. When the Oklahoma State Department of Health updated the statistics June 2, it showed seven cases in Blaine, with four of them recovered.

Oklahoma to Begin Issuing Real IDs this Summer

Real ID Act is to have minimum security standards for state-issued driver’s licenses, identification cards and prohibits federal agencies from accepting licenses and identification cards from states that do not meet these standards for official purposes.
