WATONGA — The Watonga Eagles football team got a final tune-up for the 2021 season Thursday with a home scrimmage against the Fairview Yellowjackets. The scrimmage marked the public’s first glimpse of their Eagles under new head coach Skylar Watson.

Softball Scenes Vs. Hinton

The Geary Lady Bison fastpitch softball team fell 12-0 to the Hinton Comets in Hinton on Monday, Aug. 16. The game marked a homecoming for new Geary head coach Bridget Goodknight, who was an assistant at Hinton last season. The Lady Bison return to action on Friday at the Hinton Tournament.

In fall 2014, I was an intern for the OU athletics department, specifically the sports information team, meaning the PR guys. We managed the teams’ social media accounts, wrangled the media for midweek and postgame football press conferences, kept stats, updated the website – you know, stuff like that. It was pretty dry stuff, honestly, hence why I’m not doing it anymore. But it did give me incredible access to the team.

Oklahoma, Texas Submit Request to Join Powerhouse SEC

Texas and Oklahoma submitted a request Tuesday to join the Southeastern Conference, with SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey saying the league would consider it in the “near future.” A day after the Big 12 schools notified the league that they would not be extending an agreement that binds conference members to 2025, the schools publicly stated for the first time they want to join the powerhouse SEC. Oklahoma and Texas sent a joint letter to Sankey with requesting “invitations for membership to the Southeastern Conference starting on July 1, 2025.” “We believe that there would be mutual benefit to the universities on the one hand, and the SEC on the other hand, for the universities to become members of the SEC.
