The Watonga Eagles High School Band (ABOVE) will be front and center again this year when the Cheese Festival Parade rolls down Noble Avenue. The parade is set for noon on Saturday, October 12.

The 47th annual Watonga Cheese Festival is getting ready to hit the streets and it promises to be a jam-packed weekend.The opening ceremony will take place at 12:30 at Centennial Park. This will include a special dedication ceremony as well. All venues will open at 1 p.m.

In her book “They Carried the Torch: The story of Early Oklahoma Newspapers,” Elva Ferguson mentions telephone service being installed, including in the Watonga Republican office. She notes one could call all the way to Kansas City. The Ferguson Home Museum has a couple of wood wall (coffin) phones.
