Hi, everyone! I hope you’re all able to stay inside this terribly cold weather. It is too cold for me, I’m staying in as much as I can. I hope it is warmer by Thursday, Jan. 18. It will be me and John’s 61st anniversary. It snowed when we got married at Geary.

OG&E STEM Scholarship Applications Due Feb. 15

The deadline for Oklahoma Gas and Electric Company’s 2024 OG&E Positive Energy Scholarship is approaching. High school seniors in Oklahoma and Arkansas are encouraged to apply before the application closes on February 15. The OGE Energy Corp.

USDA National Scholarship Program Now Open

The USDA 1890 National Scholars Program is aimed at bolstering educational and career opportunities for students from rural or underserved communities around the country. It was established in 1992 as part of the partnership between USDA and the 1890 land-grant universities.

Watonga Hears Audit, Passes Redistricting

When Watonga City Council met Tuesday in regular session, it dealt with a widely varied agenda. Russ Meacham, principal of RS Meacham, the city’s accounting firm, was in attendance to go over the financial statements and the city audit for the fiscal year 2022.

Geary Faces Water Woes

Just in time for an artic blast of cold air, the City of Geary is without a public works director. Tommy Lewis, who had been serving in that position, was restructured at the January city council meeting to become the gas department foreman and his pay set at $18 per hour.

The annual Lions Club meal and cake auction is set for 6 p.m. Thursday, January 25 at the Foley Building at the Blaine County Fairgrounds. Pork Butt was so popular last year that it is the featured menu item.
