It is Homecoming Week in Watonga. The festivities will run all week long and include events at all schools. For example, on Monday, there was a homecoming softball game with Thomas, where the seniors were presented for senior night and everyone was encouraged to wear red, white and blue.

Support Staff to Receive $1,000

In a regular meeting that resembled final Jeopardy! in its brevity, the Watonga School Board heard a mostly positive report on the state of the district finances. The general fund showed a month-end balance of $ 9.18 million, despite expenditures of $1.5 million.

California Woman Killed in Local Crash

According to a report from the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, a California woman was killed Sunday in a single vehicle collision west of Hydro. The report indicates Arthur DeJesus, 53, of Whittier, Calif., was the driver of a 2016 Harley motorcycle at the time of the accident.

Little Nominated for OLM Award

Watonga City Manager Karrie Beth Little has been nominated for the Oklahoma Municipal League’s Don Rider Award. The award honors outstanding municipal professionals and highlights the importance of public service.

School Offers Grief

$23 M in Grants Announced

OKLAHOMA CITY – Attorney General Gentner Drummond has announced that the Oklahoma Opioid Abatement Board plans to issue up to $23 million in opioid abatement grant awards.
