Committee Asks for Commandments in Class

A committee examining prayer in schools asked the state Board of Education to require every classroom to display a poster of the Ten Commandments and require students to take a course on Western civilization for graduation.

Hi, everyone! I hope you’ve had a great week. Mine was rather quiet. Last Saturday night we met for games and music. We had about 26 people come in. We missed several that had gone to other events that night but we still had a fun time. Tom and David played some terrific music for us.

Canton Students Win at National History Day

Nearly two dozen Oklahoma students won an award at the National History Day competition. They were part of the 2,600 students worldwide in grades 6-12 who competed at the University of Maryland at College Park from June 10-15. This year’s theme was “Frontiers in History: People, Ideas, and Events.

Ferguson Features

The Friends of the Ferguson will host homemade ice cream and toppings from 11-3 p.m. Saturday, July 1 on the porch of the TB Ferguson Home. There will also be board games and the chance to take a turn at cranking the ice cream.

Masons Donate to Senior Center

Above the Watonga Masons present a $5,000 -plus check to the Senior Center. Below, the fleet of trucks for driver training classes at the driving academy north of Watonga arrived just in time for one of the vehicles to blow over during heavy storms.The start of classes was not impacted.
