Laubach to Challenge Dobrinski for House Seat

OKEENE – Paul Laubach, a Blaine Countybased rancher and newspaperman, has announced his intention to run for the House District 59 seat in the Oklahoma Legislature. Laubach, an Okeene resident, is running as an independent against incumbent first-term Republican Mike Dobrinski, also of Okeene.

Upchego Joins Geary School Board

GEARY – Waylan Upchego, a Geary pastor, was sworn in Monday as the newest member of the Geary Public Schools Board of Education. Upchego, the former Geary chief of police, was the only applicant for the position recently vacated by Virginia Richey.

Caddo County Retired Educators Updates

The Caddo County Retired Educators held their monthly meeting January 10th, at the Caddo Kiowa CTC. There were 14 members present along with 3 visitors. The January devotion was presented by Karen Mason.

Hi everybody! I sure hope you enjoyed the snow. Wasn't it beautiful? It was so pretty to watch coming down, knowing I didn't have to get out in it any time soon. I finally got out Saturday afternoon for a bit. I hope it will be a while before we get any more though.

Growing Old is the Pits

I don't know what happened but all of a sudden, I've started 'feeling my age.' I think that's what's happening anyway, but I can't be certain since I've never been this age before. I base the observation of my sudden decline on my sister.

Hinton Senior News

Due to the inclement Winter weather we had last week the Hinton Sr. Center was closed for three days beginning on Wednesday. Here it is Sunday and I am still unable to leave my house because of drifts. One of the things that happens when you live outside of town. No complaints, I love it here.

Voters Approve Watonga Bond for New Facilities

WATONGA – The voters of central Blaine County handed a victory to Watonga Public Schools on Tuesday, granting the district’s request for a nearly $20 million bond issue to finance construction of new athletics and cafeteria facilities.
