Blaine County Clerk Stays Positive, Looks Ahead to New Year

Jennifer Haigler will serve another term as County Clerk for Blaine County. Haigler was sworn in by Judge Allison Lafferty on Jan. 4, 2021, and has previously served as county clerk for four years.

Officer Arrested on Child Sex Exploitation Charges in Hydro

The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation Internet Crimes Against Children Unit arrested the assistant chief of the Hydro police department on multiple child sexual exploitation charges. Agents from the OSBI served a search warrant on Jan. 28 in the 600 block of N. Broadway in Hydro.

Candidates for municipal office in seven Blaine County municipalities may file Declarations of Candidacy beginning at 8 a.m. Monday. The filing period ends at 5 p.m. Feb. 3, said Brenda Rice, secretary of the County Election Board.

One Man Dies in Collision

A 29-year-old Missouri man died in a three-vehicle wreck Monday near Watonga. A 2013 Peterbilt Semi, driven by Sean Bush, 29, or Neosho, Missouri, and a 2017 Peterbilt Semi, driven by Gerald Ostrowiecki, 58, of Cheyenne, Wyoming, were driving south on US 270 about 2:30 p.m.

Dealing with a stuck raccoon isn’t new for Animal Control Officer Doug Jackson. Jackson received a call that a racoon was stuck in a dumpster at Roman Nose State Park and was not aware of what to expect until he arrived.
