Chester Timothy Curtin left this earth to spend eternity with his Heavenly Father December 31, 2021. Tim was born September 18, 1944 and grew up in Watonga only leaving home to go to college at OSU. When his dad passed away, he came back home to run the Watonga Republican newspaper and finished college at Southwestern.

Larry & Patricia Denton

We are celebrating the life of Larry and Patricia Ruth Denton. Larry was born April 3, 1945 to Grant and Opal Denton of Longdale, Oklahoma. He departed this life on Tuesday, December 28, 2021 at his home in rural Oakwood, Oklahoma. He was one of 9 children. Larry served 3 years in the Marine Corps, serving part of that time over in Vietnam where he earned a Purple Heart with a Gold Star. Larry married Patty Shippy on December 15, 1968. They made their home outside of Oakwood, Oklahoma where they raised their four sons and one daughter. He served on the local fire department as a volunteer firefighter until retirement. Larry always had an entertaining story to tell and never met a stranger. He loved his wife, his children, and all the grandchildren and instilled in them a strong sense of family values and loyalty.

Carole Jean Nunn was born October 31, 1938, at Eagle City, Oklahoma to Irvin and Ruth Bollinger and passed away December 22, 2021, at the age of 83. Carole was raised on the farm west of Watonga, on the old golf course; she was a resident of the Watonga Community her entire life.

Jarius (Jerry) L. Gray

Jarius (Jerry) L. Gray was born on October 21, 1940, in Lookeba, OK, to Alvin Arton “Shorty” and Helen Irene (Bussell) Gray. He passed away on December 17, 2021, in El Reno, OK at the age of 81. Jerry graduated from Lookeba High School. He married Geneva Fisher on July 3, 1958, in Lookeba, OK. The couple moved to the OKC area when Jerry took a job with BF Goodrich as a salesman. They then moved back to Lookeba to fulfill his lifetime dream of being a farmer. He had his pilot’s license and loved to fly and look at his farmland. He farmed in the Lookeba-Sickles area until he retired in 1997. He and Geneva raised four boys, and he taught them to have a strong work ethic, and to be faithful in marriage and to the Lord. Herbert Lee “H.L.” Brown was born on July 7, 1944 in Geary, OK. He passed away on December 3, 2021 in Oklahoma City, OK at the age of 77.

Robert “Bob” Haigler

Funeral services for Robert “Bob” Haigler, 80, of rural Canton, Oklahoma were held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 23, 2021 at the Canton Christian Church with Rev. Mike McReynolds and Pastor Michael Grigsby officiating. Interment will follow at Canton Cemetery under the direction of Pierce Funeral Home, Canton.

Albert “Frank” Austin

Albert “Frank” Austin was born on January 31, 1937, in Canadian County, OK to Robert Lee and Ruth O. (Ellison) Austin. Frank passed away on November 27, 2021, at his home in Geary, OK at the age of 84. Frank was raised near Geary, OK and attended Sunny Hill Country School for a couple of years and attended Geary Schools. He graduated from Geary High School in the class of 1955. After graduation Frank began his career in agriculture. He married June Nix on May 28, 1956, in Calumet, OK. The couple made their home and raised their family on the farm that became Canyon View Dairy and Canyon View Farms. Frank loved caring for his dairy cows and made a conscious effort to be a good steward of his land. He farmed wheat and soy beans among other crops and ran cattle, that he rotated, to preserve the integrity of the soil. Frank served on The Maple Water Board, Soil Conservation Board, and the Canadian Flood Plain Board. He loved attending Jamborees, square dancing and taking bus tours. He had a generous heart and saw to it that a scholarship fund be set up to educate future generations. Frank loved to visit with his neighbors and friends. He was a member of the Red Rock Methodist Church, Calumet, OK.

Arthena Marie Lorance Humphreys

Arthena Marie Lorance Humphreys was the youngest child of 11, born to Joseph Abner and Olga Todd Lorance in Hydro, OK. She attended Hydro High School until graduation in 1950. She loved playing basketball. She was married briefly; 4 children were born of this union. She met Edward Dee Humphreys at the First Church of the Nazarene. They had a two-year courtship, then united in marriage, March 21, 1975. She was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene.
